Orchestrating Knowledge Networks: Alter-Oriented Brokering
نویسندگان
چکیده
In knowledge networks, such as best-practice industry forums, and professional communities, members of different organizations exchange for mutual individual benefit. When properly managed, networks enable time- resource-constrained individuals to engage across organizational boundaries. Such often involve deliberate orchestration by a hub actor (individual, team, or organization), referred the orchestrator. Orchestration in network is essentially form brokering behavior. While most previous studies brokerage have adopted broker-centric perspective, present study advances an alter-oriented account how behavior influences relationships create knowledge-related benefits members. Drawing on interviews with 51 Belgian focusing best practices research development, this explores orchestrator's ensuing Based these findings, describes integrative model processes that modify, intermediate, maintain among alters orchestrated networks. The contributes conceptualizing alter-orientation distinct behavior, unpacking microfoundations orchestration, demonstrating dynamics between social dimensions orchestration.

Approaches to Knowledge-Brokering
The purpose of this paper is to help stimulate thinking about knowledge-brokering in advance of the Search Conference on May 15/16, 1997. Our emphasis has therefore been on introducing a set of ideas that we hope may provide a useful starting point for collective discussion. Our intention is not to advocate a particular point of view, and you may discover that some of the ideas presented are mu...

Software-defined networking (SDN) use cases commonly involve multiple applications that collectively drive the network. The use cases are growing bigger and more complex, raising the need to break them into more manageable and reusable small pieces, as the design principle of separation of concerns suggests. Simultaneously, new business models [2] are driving the use cases beyond the control of...
متن کاملKnowledge brokering: Exploring the process of transferring knowledge into action
BACKGROUND There are many theories about knowledge transfer but there are few clear descriptions of knowledge transfer interventions or the processes they involve. This failure to characterise structure and process in proposed KT interventions is a major barrier to the design and implementation of evaluations of particular KT strategies. This study is designed to provide a detailed description ...
متن کاملThe ‘dark side’ of knowledge brokering
Deploying knowledge brokers to bridge the 'gap' between researchers and practitioners continues to be seen as an unquestionable enabler of evidence-based practice and is often endorsed uncritically. We explore the 'dark side' of knowledge brokering, reflecting on its inherent challenges which we categorize as: (1) tensions between different aspects of brokering; (2) tensions between different t...
